About Veterinary Care Specialists

In 1997, Veterinary Care Specialists opened its doors at 205 Rowe Rd in Milford Michigan. After years of planning, extensive consultations with architects, lighting designers, flooring specialists, and various other contractors, we achieved our goal. We wanted an open and inviting space for our staff, clients and patients. The five acres of gorgeous woodland that we are located on had to be seen and enjoyed. We needed a traffic pattern that allowed our critical care patients rapid access to the treatment areas, radiology and surgery. Oxygen and anesthetic capabilities had to be available to almost every room. Our air handling systems had to provide zoned heating and cooling and our isolation ward was designed to control and prevent spread of infectious disease.

All of these expectations became a reality in December of 1997. We have a gorgeous facility that has withstood the test of time. Nearly every room has generous windows looking out at woodland and wetland areas, providing a constant reminder of nature around us.

We have grown steadily since opening. VCS was never meant to be the largest referral and emergency hospital but it was meant to be a kind, warm environment for clients and patients alike. Veterinary Care Specialists was designed to be a facility where the standards of care, the standards of medicine, are always the highest. We all, from the veterinary assistants to the doctors, are proud of who, and what we are.

Our goals at Veterinary Care Specialists are to provide the best patient care and to maintain high quality communication with both the pet owner and the referring veterinarian. We aim to augment the relationship between pet, owner and veterinarian by providing 24 hour emergency care and referral services.

Your pet is a significant member of your family. Our doctors and staff understand this relationship and will treat your pet with care and respect. Our facility is dedicated to providing the highest level diagnostics and patient monitoring. VCS not only has an intensive care unit for the critically ill patient, but also an isolation unit for patients with contagious diseases. These units, with 24 hour technical and veterinary support, help facilitate the monitoring and safety of all of Veterinary Care Specialist's patients.

If your pet should require hospitalization, you will be apprised of their progress daily and your veterinarian will receive regular updates as well as written communication at the time of admission and discharge.
